Greengates is a family-owned space for leisurely holidays.
Retreat into its quiet spaces and unwind. You may want to dip in and out of the pool, relax in the calm south-facing garden, enjoy a big family meal, or grab a takeout from town to eat al fresco, there’s something for everyone at Greengages.
Greengates is a historic farm building that has been sensitively refurbished. Its generous layout gives you flexible accommodation for an easy relaxing break.
For kids
It’s activity heaven! There’s the games room with table tennis, some snug comfy chairs
The spacious driveway is also known as “Skatespace”; a large concrete space for parking, bikes and roller booting. Bring your wheels and set up bike or skating challenges for the little ones
There’s boxes of games, and a whole cupboard of books and toys for kids.
There is a walled garden with various herb and bird areas, so kids can play safely. You can relax in Greengates outdoor enclosed spaces because kids can play in the garden but the doors and gates accessing the pool area can be securely locked or bolted at height.
The pool is a favourite with children; the steps are a great area for little ones to paddle and a deeper area for those more ready to take the plunge. Our pool has a nice new heater so dips will be irresistible in even the most British of Summers.
Communal living spaces
The lounge has a wood burner, plenty of room to comfortably seat the family, and a SmartTV. Almost every room in Greengates has shelves of books for you to browse. There are plenty of puzzles, and board games in case of wet weather, or if you fancy a bottle of wine and a snug night in. There’s a separate living/dining room with a solid wood family table for dining, with views into the garden where we often see woodpecker families, and all kinds of birds through the South facing windows
The Kitchen
The kitchen boasts a double oven, double sink, two fridges and a dishwasher. Its designed with plenty of workspace, and spaces to snack and chat. The kitchen has a washroom at one end with another sink and washing machine, and a larder at the other. The entrance is through a utility space for coats and boots, with an under counter freezer and space for recycling. There is also a convenient outside loo.
Bedrooms
Upstairs the four bedrooms give flexible accommodation, whatever your family setup. There’s the Kings Room, South facing overlooking the garden with a kingsize bed. The Red Room with a comfortable double bed and two bunks, plus a window seat for watching the pool. The third room has two singles, and a small fourth lovely room with built in single bed, perfect for a young child. Theres two toilets upstairs, one with a bath and a shower.
Green Footprint
We want to work with you to make your holiday low carbon impact for everyone's future. So we have installed solar panels, polythermic insulation, double glazing throughout, and eco laundry. We have a smart boiler which utilises the panels to heat water. So you can enjoy a slice of luxury while staying in balance with the planet. To do your part, there are opportunities for recycling. If that’s not possible, we understand!
Amenities
Wifi, Clothes Washer, Dishwasher, Shower, Bath, Three toilets, four bedrooms, one extra double bed can come out in the playroom if desired, pool, music player, parking for four cars, travel cot.
Guest Access
The whole property is solely for the occupants of Greengates. High walls surrounding the pool and garden provide privacy for your gathering. Two garages and a studio are where we store our things for Winter, so not accessible to guests.
Saturday to Saturday bookings are the most convenient for us, but we are happy to consider other options.
We will provide guests with details about accessing the property once the booking is confirmed.
Library and toys
We have an eclectic selection of books collected on our travels, which you are welcome to browse and enjoy, as well as toys to play with, including a wooden train set, cars and baby dolls.
