The whole property is solely for the occupants of Greengates. High walls surrounding the pool and garden provide privacy for your gathering. Two garages and a studio are where we store our things for Winter, so not accessible to guests.
Saturday to Saturday bookings are the most convenient for us, but we are happy to consider other options.
We will provide guests with details about accessing the property once booking is confirmed.

This property has the best of both worlds. It takes minutes to get onto the M5, where you can travel fast to beaches, cities or other natural wonders, anywhere around the South West. But whilst at Greengates, in the quiet village of Mark you are truly in a rural retreat. A place to recharge and relax. This place has been used for farming since the 11th century when Monks created the rhynes, draining the land to make it incredibly rich and arable.
Greengates is within a ten minute drive of the huge sweeping beaches at Burnham on Sea. Cycle there through the bird reserve and play with kids at the park on the way. Theres a lovely independent cinema in Burnham if you want to catch a movie while you're there, plus stores for thrifting if you want to find some unique memorabilia from your breach trip. Theres a pier with games and good views.
If you want more of a classic British beach experience, Weston Super Mare has it all. huge beaches, donkey rides, foods, a big wheel, crazy golf, indoor rock climbing for the kids, a skatepark, and a gorgeous promenade along the sea front.
The caves of Wookey hole and Cheddar are inspiring for all ages. The cavernous underground spaces are filled with stories and adventure. Find yourself some authentic cheddar cheese, and some amazing ice cream. For those who appreciate a physical challenge the caving and rock climbing is exceptional in this area.
The Mendip Outdoor adventure centre is a dry ski slope with lessons and tobogganing available all year round.
Theres many local family farms where kids can visit the animals, pick your own, play outside, get tractor rides and see more of what Somerset life is like on a working farm.
The Dorset beaches and their ancient fossils are within an hours drive of Mark. The famous Jurrassic coast holds secrets in its rocks. Its a great day out to explore. Follow in the footsteps of Mary Anning and connect to time periods we can only imagine.
Bath: The famous city of Bath is within an hour of Greengates. It is a historic Roman city with the world famous Bath Thermae, great food and fantastic shopping.
Bristol is filled with culture, foods and incredible opportunities for days out. Whether its festivals, science museums, aquariums, arts or anything else, Bristol will welcome you. It's just 40 minutes from Greengates.

We recommend that you bring your bikes! Greengates is on “the Levels” an area of land whose name is a giveaway for how great the cycle rides are for the whole family. There are multiple small quiet lanes which start and end at the house, perfect for exploring. Cycle to the river, or cycle to the dairy farm. Cycle to the cider farm for lunch, or cycle to the playground and back. Each route is scenic and unique.
The Mendips and Brean Down both are just two of the wild and beautiful walking spaces within half an hour of Greengates.

For kids, it’s an activity heaven! There’s the games room with table tennis, some snug comfy chairs and two pianos, “skatespace”; a large concrete space for parking, bikes and roller booting for kids, plus the pool with a paddling area for little ones and a deeper area for those more ready to take the plunge

Our pool has a nice new heater so dips will be irresistible even in the most British of Summers.
